Quote: "Rec and Park official Connie Chan said the department has looked into the incidents with park staff, but said that it has not had any fertilizer applied at that park in over a year."

Note: Here's a Google Maps link of the area. So some hydrogen sulfide blows off the ocean, settles onto the ground, adsorbs onto matter, like grass, then dogs lick it or sniff it, they're gonna get sick or die. This has happened to dogs at other parks too, in New York, in Australia, etc, almost always in parks near coasts...

http://www.newsweek.com/climate-change-permafrost-methane-global-warming-581596
http://www.nature.com/articles/nclimate3262.epdf

Quote: "There is already significant evidence that the tundra is starting to break up with a massive crater known as the Gateway to the Underworld growing in Siberia at an alarming rate."

Quote: "But scientists do agree that Arctic permafrost has a formidable potential to affect the climate. Estimates suggest that the amount of carbon it contains may be up twice the amount of carbon currently housed in the atmosphere."

Note: So there's the equivalent of almost 800 ppm of carbon dioxide locked up in the permafrost, which has already started to significantly melt away. If that were added to the 400 ppm we already have in the atmosphere, that'd be 1200 ppm, or 200 ppm more than what scientists have estimated was present in the atmosphere for the Permian-Triassic extinction event, called The Great Dying. So this is another sign that a repeat of the Permian-Triassic extinction is underway now. This may be how it began back then too - volcanic eruptions burned a bunch of coal (instead of humans, but the source is irrelevant to the Earth), the CO2 levels hit 400-ish ppm, the Earth heated up and melted the permafrost which kicked the levels up to 1000+ ppm, and the oceans and seas went anoxic enough to spew enough hydrogen sulfide into the seas and the atmosphere to kill off 96% of all ocean species and 70% of all land species. So yeah, that's what's coming our way, and it has already begun.

And the permafrost isn't even the only source of greenhouse gases. There are numerous oceanic methane clathrate deposits that are ALSO now melting, off both the US East and West Coasts, off the coast of New Zealand, in the sea near Svalbard, etc, so we may see WORSE than 'The Great Dying'. Well, WE won't see it, because we'll all be long gone way before it gets that bad. But the EARTH may see worse than 'The Great Dying', and it took 30 million years to fully recover from that, so it may take 35 or 40 million years for the Earth to fully recover after the current extinction event has run its course...

Shockingly, the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels are found to be less than even 1 milligrams/litre (mg/l), or at best between 1-1.5 mg/l in most of the water bodies in Hyderabad where water quality parameters are being regularly monitored by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board."

Quote: "As per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), water bodies having dissolved oxygen concentration less than 2 mg/l are known as Hypoxic zones or as 'dead zones' because such conditions cannot sustain life."

Note: Oh, they can sustain life, just not oxygen-using life. The ancient anaerobic bacteria and archaea that eat biomatter like garbage and feces and produce hydrogen sulfide prefer waters like this, with little or no oxygen. That kind of life will do just fine in these bodies of water...

http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/16/furnas-hall-ubs-north-campus-evaculated-report-chemical-release/

Quote: "Furnas Hall on the University at Buffalo's North Campus was evacuated just before 7 p.m. Sunday amid reports of a possible leak of methane gas in the 10-story building. A UB spokesperson said the building, which houses the departments of Chemical Engineering and Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, was declared safe following a search and reopened late Sunday night. Authorities said several students in a fifth-floor chemical lab had noticed the 'noxious odor' and summoned UB police, prompting a search of the building by hazmat crews, who found no gas leaks and determined the building was safe."

Note: Why would they think it was methane? Methane is odorless...

2017-04-16 - Methane levels rising rapidly in the atmosphere:
http://phys.org/news/2017-04-early-out-of-control-climate.html

Quote: "The great concern is the rapid rise, over the last three years, in methane levels in the atmosphere. Methane is a gas with 28 times the planet-heating power of carbon dioxide. Scientists estimate there may be as much as 5 trillion tonnes of it locked in permafrost and seabed deposits."

Quote: "Reports of methane escaping into the atmosphere have been growing steadily, ever since a group of students demonstrated the risks by setting fire to venting Arctic gas in 2008. However, scientists report a sudden surge in global methane emissions in the last three years, 2014-16."

Quote: "So far the rise in methane has been attributed mainly to cattle raising, rice farming and gas extraction – but there is now disturbing evidence that more gas is emerging from Arctic soils as the permafrost melts, and from the seabed where methane has been trapped as ice for millions of years. Russian scientists have reported the discovery of thousands of potential 'methane-bombs' – frozen gas-filled mounds – across Siberia, primed to erupt as the ground thaws out. Swedish scientists have observed the waters of the Artic oceans 'fizzing like soda water' as the ocean waters warm, causing frozen seabed methane to turn back into gas and erupt."

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39626131

Quote: "Scientists have found live specimens of the rare giant shipworm for the first time in the Philippines."

Quote: "Other shipworms contain bacteria in their guts that break down cellulose, the stiff material of which plant cell walls are made. An investigation by the researchers, including Margo Haygood of the University of Utah College of Pharmacy, shows that Kuphus polythalamia don’t contain large amounts of these bacteria, nor do they have other shipworms’ hefty quantities of woody pulp in their guts. Rather, these giant weirdos contain a trove of unique bacteria that actually feast upon hydrogen sulfide. This gas, which to humans reeks of rotten eggs, is produced by festering wood and other rotting organic material in the seafloor."

Quote: "The six-foot mollusc lives in stinking mud and in a symbiotic relationship with chemosynthetic bacteria that feed on hydrogen sulfide gas, writes Andrew Masterson."

Note: These things are part of the ancient ecosystem that existed long before there were any mammals. As the current extinction event progresses, the Earth is reverting back to a more primeval state...

http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2017/04/the-limits-for-life-on-earth.html

Note: Not ALL life, just oxygen-using life. The ancient anaerobic bacteria and archaea that spew hydrogen sulfide will survive pretty much no matter how hot it gets, unless the entire planet falls into the Sun. That might actually be the only thing that could kill them off. Even if we nuked areas of the ocean where they're spreading, they'd be the very first things to show back up, and then the other life that holds them somewhat in check would be gone, so they'd end up even stronger for having been nuked. They are an enemy that we can't negotiate with, can't bomb into submission, and which ultimately can't be defeated...

2017-04-24 - Record snow and cold across Europe with another Arctic front on the way:
http://www.sott.net/article/349127-Record-snow-and-cold-across-Europe-with-another-Arctic-front-on-the-way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEoy-78Yn0c

Note: Notice where all those cold events are occurring - Turkey (Eastern Europe), Scotland (Europe), Ireland (Europe), France (Europe). And the North Atlantic Ocean is cooling. Greenland is dumping ice cold freshwater into the North Atlantic as it melts, and the Gulf Stream is slowing, possibly in response to all that ice cold fresh water, so the heat that would normally get transferred to Europe via that ocean current isn't getting there, or at least not as much heat as normal is getting to Europe. Without that heat, much of Europe would be more like Siberia before Siberia started heating up. That oceanic heat doesn't just disappear though - it's backing up along the US East Coast, and the waters are warming and killing off shrimp off the coast of Maine now.

Europe getting hit by waves of cold may be a more or less permanent thing - or at least a recurring thing - at least until Greenland is done melting. Of course, by the time Greenland is done melting, every major coastal city on the planet will be gone, and most major cities on this planet ARE coastal cities - London, NYC, Washington DC, Shanghai, Sydney, Mumbai, Lagos, etc. Most nuclear plants are also on coasts, so we'll have several hundred Fukushimas going by the time Greenland is done melting too. Remember those huge 'ghost cities' China built, with enough room for 65 million people? They're all located far far away from the oceans. That's not a coincidence, that's foresight and planning...
